PAKISTAN – Christian tortured to death to force mother’s false confession

This is injustice of the worst sort.
March 12, 2015

Thanks to your generosity Ayesha and Christians like her in Pakistan are able to get the help they need.A Pakistani Christian has accused police of torturing her son to death – to force her to admit to a crime she did not commit.

Zubair Masih’s body was dumped outside his home in Lahore on Friday, according to Release partners.

Zubair, his mother Ayesha (pictured) and his uncle Arshad were detained after Ayesha’s former employer accused her of stealing money and gold from him. She had worked as his maid for several years, before leaving her job last month.

Police tortured Zubair, 20, in front of his mother in custody, to force a confession from her. Ayesha and Arshad were also badly beaten. But she continued to deny all charges.

Soon after Ayesha was released, her son’s body appeared outside their home on Friday. Local Christians staged a protest in the Shamsabad area of Lahore on Sunday, blocking a main road and demanding justice for Zubair. (Source: Release partners).

  • Please pray that our loving heavenly Father will comfort and heal Ayesha and Arshad. Pray for justice for Zubair. Pray that Pakistan’s officials at all levels will do more to protect religious minorities, including Christians, from abuse and discrimination.
  • Your prayers and financial gifts mean that persecuted Christians such as Ayesha are able to get the support and legal representation they need. Please pray that God will protect our partners and give them wisdom as they provide this help.

Ayesha Bibi was given the dead body of her son in a twisted incident of police malpractice. This is so wicked!

On 6th March 2015 at 7pm  a Christian mother Ayesha Bibi was arrested by Police from Harbanspura, near Lahore.  This after the harassed mother stopped going to her employers house after the employers family continually accused her of stealing items from their home, despite her many years of loyal service.

Ms Ayesha Bibi was arrested after an accusation that she had stolen property from the house of the landlord Abdul Jabbar Pathan, where she worked as a domestic servant.  Ayesha Bibi was arrested with her son, Zubair Maish (20 years) and brother Arshad Masih, both whom were with her during the arrest.

Three police bundled the victims into a car and beat and tortured them, throughout the journey.  They later tried to beat a confession out of the three of them whilst placed in separate cells at the Police station.

After no evidence of theft was found the mother was released, the brother and uncle were detained as the police tried to force a confession.

The mother has been praying and calling for their freedom since the arrest. However, this morning (9th March 2015) at 07:00 a police car crudely dumped the dead body of the son Zubair Masih,  on the streets in front of the poor mothers home.

The mother has today filed an FIR against the police and is praying for justice for her son.  BPCA officer Mehwish Bhatti will be meeting the family tomorrow to discuss how we can help.  Please pray for her safety and for succour for the mother and grieving family.

Wilson Chowdhry, Chairman of the British Pakistani Christian Association, said;

“This poor mothers hurt is one that reverberates throughout Pakistan.  Christian mothers lose their daughters to rape and forced Islamic marriage and to often lose their sons to malicious acts of violence. The value of a Christian in Pakistan is deemed no more than a postage stamp. Unless significant social reform takes place this ongoing hatred will lead to even more sorrow in a country bereft of love.”
