A teenager from eastern Uganda whose parents had converted to Christianity was gang raped and beaten earlier this month.
The 19-year-old college student was still receiving hospital treatment nine days after the attack in Bukedea district. Three masked men ambushed her as she returned from her teacher training college on September 19. They threatened to kill her because her parents had left Islam – then beat her unconscious. She was discovered by passers-by the next day.
The attack has worrying similarities to the gang-rape of a pastor’s daughter in the predominantly Muslim Budaka district of east Uganda in April (Prayer Alert, April 17).
Meanwhile, also in Budaka, a mother-of-eight says she has been forced to return to Islam, after her in-laws threatened to kill her and take her children. Her husband left her ten years ago because she became a Christian. The 36-year-old is said to be ‘spiritually troubled’ and has asked for prayer that God would restore her to Christ.
Please ask God to comfort and heal the college student who was raped and beaten. Pray that God will protect her and her family and strengthen them in their faith. (She and they are Roman Catholic-JK)
Pray that the woman from Budaka who was forced to convert to Islam will experience God’s restoration, protection and presence. Ask Him to protect her children too.
Let’s pray that our brothers and sisters in Uganda will put their total trust in God, amid rising persecution in some areas, particularly against Christians with a Muslim background.
