Sabra Jews

Paul said , “My heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they might be saved.” (Romans 10:1). He was meaning the Jews, his kinsmen after the flesh.

Jew, Israeli, Sabra in Israel

Sabra Jews are those born in the land of Israel. The word is derived from the Hebrew word tzabar, the name of the “prickly pear” cactus. The allusion is to a tenacious, thorny desert plant with a thick hide that conceals a sweet, softer interior. It is a very special name full of meaning to Israelis.

Ministry Obstacles
Jewish identity is threatened when a Jew acknowledges Jesus as personal Messiah. Pray that Jews will see their identity enhanced when they follow Jesus, not diminished.

Outreach Ideas
The Gospel is available if the hearts of Israeli Jews are prepared to hear and receive. Pray for prepared hearts.

Pray for the followers of Christ
The Lord is increasingly calling his O.T. people the Jews to Himself. Pray for his followers among these Israeli Jews, that they will be faithful witnesses to their family and friends. Pray they will live lives that fully honour Jesus.

Pray for the entire people group
Pray for the Jews, that the veil over their eyes will increasingly be lifted, allowing them to truly see Jesus.

Scripture Focus
“Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel, Who alone works wonders. And blessed be His glorious name forever; And may the whole earth be filled with His glory. Amen, and Amen.” Psalm 72:18-19
