As Mustafa and his fellow soldiers engaged ISIS fighters in Mosul, he began to wonder why he was fighting people from his own religion. Wasn’t ISIS practicing what the Quran taught? Disillusioned with Islam, he began to look for answers among the Christians. The first church he visited turned him away, but at the second church a Muslim security guard gave him a tip: “Go down to that evangelical church,” he said. “They’ll help you.” When Mustafa entered the church, the pastor greeted him warmly. He answered his questions and gave him a New Testament to read. One week later, Mustafa returned to the church. He had read the New Testament and placed his faith in Christ. Pray that Mustafa will continue to grow in faith, and thank God for men and women like the pastor, who faithfully share the gospel despite the danger.
