Human Rights Groups Plea for Release of Christian Lawyer in Vietnam
1/11/2016 Vietnam (UCA News)
Christian human rights lawyer Nguyen Van Dai was arrested December 16th while attempting to join with European Union diplomats after the conclusion to a human rights meeting with Vietnamese government officials. It was not the first time Mr. Nguyen has been arrested as he was imprisoned for four years and then four years under house arrest in 2007 for promoting democratic ideals. Currently Mr. Nguyen and his colleague face prison terms of three to 20 years if convicted. Human rights and pro-democracy groups are calling for their release as the charges do not fit their actions.
- Pray that the Vietnamese government will honor its international and domestic obligations to release Mr. Nguyen immediately and unconditionally
- Pray that believers in Vietnam will persevere and be bold when they face hardship and rejection
- Pray that God would build bridges through relationships to present the gospel to the millions of Vietnamese people who have never heard how they can come to know God
